Voice Journey. A free event sponsored by The Rondout Valley Holistic Health Community and the Marty and Gloria Wolosoff Foundation. Stephanie Rooker is a vocalist, composer, voice teacher, sound healing facilitator, and founder of Voice Journey Sound Center in Brooklyn. She employs a distinctive grasp of cross-cultural archetypes, incisive listening, and mindful facilitation to demonstrate the vast possibilities of broadening awareness as well as promoting healing & empowerment through the voice. Community Holistic Healthcare Day. A wide variety of holistic health modalities and practitioners will be available. Appointments can be made on a first-come, first-served basis upon check-in from 4-7pm. Though no money or insurance is required, RVHHC invites patients to give a donation or an hour of volunteer community service if they can. Organic Hair Care. The Green Room, an organic hair care salon, opened in June 2016. Owners Allison Demorest & Tina Betterton will discuss hair care, coloring hair and products they use in the salon. They will suggest ways to make educated choices in the world of beauty. They will also demonstrate styling and  products as well as have samples for you to see, smell, and touch. Intro to Organic Beekeeping: Planning a New Hive for Spring.Learn about the basic requirements and responsibilities for organic beekeeping. Understand the community of a hive, the tools involved, elements of site selection, where you can obtain honeybees and equipment, and an understanding of a naturalist approach to their needs. These classes will introduce students to a nurturing way of beekeeping, and a philosophy of respect and love for these amazing creatures. There is a hands-on demonstration of assembling a wooden hive, and extensive class handouts to help new beekeepers. Saturday, January 21, 28 and February 25.  Sunday, January 22, 29 and February 26, 10am-6pm. $200 per person if taking both classes, $110 for individual classes. Boloshoi Ballet in HD Presents: “The Golden Age.” Leap into the New Year on a comic high note with The Bolshoi Ballet in a gorgeously costumed H.D. film, direct from the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, of a live performance of “The Golden Age,” a light-hearted look at Soviet life in the 1920’s with an original score by Dmitri Shostakovich.  Sunday, January 15, 3pm. Rosendale Theatre, 408 Main Street, Rosendale. Admission is $10 for members, $12 for non-members and $6 for children 12 and under.

Hudson Valley Rail Trail WinterFest. Providing wonderful entertainment for the entire family.  Twenty plus regional restaurants bring their best batches of chili to compete for the coveted “Best of Fest” People’s Choice Award in both meat and vegetarian categories. Children love the great number of free activities and games designed with them in mind.  In addition, there will be a wagon drawn hayride along the trail, marshmallows for toasting and roasted chestnuts for all to enjoy. 19th Annual Catskill Ice Festival. Multiple clinics on all skills & techniques for ice climbing, basic skills, slideshows, demo gear, and more. Free slide show on Saturday evening held at Rock and Snow at 8pm. Reservations required. January 27, 28, 29, 30. New Year’s Day Odyssey. Event will include an opportunity for community spirit building, music, poetic verses, and live musicians. The music for the event is drawn from teacher Amy McTear and her training in therapeutic sound, energetic healing, fine and performing arts, naturalist training, and spiritual counseling.
