Kelder’s Farm & U-Pick

When the Kelder family first broke ground in 1836 to commence the agricultural heritage of Kelder’s Farm, little did these ancestors know that their descendents would cultivate and provide an expansive growth of community service to the Rondout Valley and beyond. But why has this farm sprouted in so many different directions to become a veritable happening?
According to farm owner Chris Kelder it is: “To provide an enjoyable time for all ages and to give families exposure to the fields where their food actually comes from.”
Fertile with amenities, Kelder’s Farm offers not only locally grown, fresh edibles but through the years they’ve nurtured other forms of nourishment to feed the area with good, healthy fun. From their Homegrown Mini-Golf with its famous mascot given the title of the 2009 World’s Largest Garden Gnome by the Guinness Book of World Records, fresh farm market, and the seasonal abundance of pick-your-own fruits and vegetables—to a plethora of educational fun for the kids with a corn maze, petting zoo, honey-making bees, school tours, and birthday parties.
But as their fields grow and the services flourish they’re now fostering a new venture—the Kelder’s Farm CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) where families can, affordably, get a weekly share of abundant fruit, veggies, flowers and herbs. From the first sweet asparagus spears to the last winter squash harvested with farm-to-table nutrition, CSA memberships include mini-golf, jumping pillow passes and exclusive events. Kelder’s Farm represents more than just agriculture. It embodies community and catering to its residents. Not only sustenance grows at Kelder’s Farm, but also an appreciation for agricultural life, sustainability, and enriching times. Said Kelder, “It gives us a sense of pride to see the positive response to all that we have to offer.”
